Riis Feriepark

With its location just 2 km  from the Midtjyske Motorvej, and at the crossroads between Legoland, Lalandia Aquadome, Givskud Zoo and Kongernes Jelling, Riis Feriepark is the perfect choice as a starting point for a holiday stay. Here, the experiences are lined up right outside the door. The square is located in a beautiful natural area with the forest as a neighbour, and the hilly terrain around and on the square itself makes it seem like a small oasis.

The campsite is only part of the area corresponding to approx. 7 ha. In addition, there is a corresponding area of ​​approx. 6.9 ha in the Municipal Plan, plan number 99.R.24, is designated for holiday center and recreational purposes. The total area is 13.8 ha according to the land registry.

Camping is currently experiencing a large increase in the rental of both caravans and cabins. Riis Feriepark located near Billund currently has 61 cabins and 5 rental rooms with the possibility of building another 74 cabins on the site, according to the current legislation (see here…).

“Furthermore, permission has been granted in the Municipal Plan for additional cabins as a Holiday Center, on an area of ​​approx. 6.9 ha, located next to the campsite. The municipality has announced that the current cabin size of 45 m2, which corresponds to the provision in the camping regulations, can be recommended Whether the area can be increased to 55 m2 will have to be clarified in relation to professional and political aspects.”

In 2016, landscape architect Merete Høgsaa prepared a draft plan in which 50 new cabins are proposed (see the draft plan here…).

The current legislation allows for up to 40% of the capacity to be e.g. cabins. With an approval of 350 units, this corresponds to 140 cabins to which 50 cabins in the holiday center can be added. This gives the possibility of a total of 190 cabins. With a short distance to attractions such as Legoland, Givskud Zoo and Kogernes Jelling, there is absolutely a need.

The site itself is 7 ha, it is approved for 350 units. According to the owner, the site is currently furnished with 255 units, of which 61 spaces are used for cabins.It has been awarded 4 stars in CampingOutdoorDanmark’s classification system. All units are supplied with 13 amp current. The wireless internet covers the entire square. The size of the unit pitches varies from 90m2 to 140m2. 15 pitches are connected to water and drainage.

The service facilities, which are described in more detail in the building description below, have a high standard, especially the 200 m2 kitchen, which is equipped with ovens, microwaves, dishwasher and seating for 30 people. The grill house has 12 separate grills and an outdoor kitchen with a gas burner. There are 60 seats. The laundry is equipped with machines mrk. Miele, 3 washing machines and 2 tumble dryers.

Families with children are a top priority at Riis Feriecenter. A sanitary ward is designed specifically for children, and a small teenage ward and changing room. Here you will also find large, well-furnished family rooms. The dog owner can even wash the four-legged friend in a separate dog bathroom.

The square’s 3 playgrounds have, among other things, bouncy pads, cable car, trampolines and much more. One playground, the one for the smallest guests, is equipped with a sandbox, climbing tower, swings and slide. Another playground is equipped with, among other things, teepees and firehouse. There is a large animal pen where small fine pet goats are waiting for attention. The competitive gene and desire for exercise can be challenged on the football pitch.

When the sun shines, it’s the swimming pool that draws guests. It is divided into several departments, has 2 slides and 1 pool for the little ones. Here you will find a nice environment with tables, chairs and deckchairs. Next to the pool there is a hot tub for 6 people. A fitness department has been set up adjacent to the pool area.

In case of rain, the children have great opportunities to test their creativity in the Kreahuset, located at the entrance to the square. Paints, brushes and modeling equipment are lined up here.

There are good opportunities to hold get-togethers, family parties or the like on the square, as you can rent a marquee with space for 70 people. The tent is equipped with the table/chairs, mini kitchen and large fridge.

Building description:

CABINS

  • 16 10 m2 cabins – 1 room with 4 beds – bunk bed and sofa bed, kitchen area with fridge w/ freezer and coffee machine, heating is with electricity, there is a small covered terrace.
  • 25 15 m2 cabins – 2 rooms with 6 sleeping places – bunk bed in 1 separate room and bunk bed and sofa bed in living room, kitchen area with fridge w/freezer and coffee machine, heating is with electricity, there is a small covered terrace.
  • 10 25 m2 cabins with bath/toilet – 3 rooms with 5 beds, 1 room with 2 single beds + bunk, 1 room with double bed, kitchen/living room with dining area and sitting area with TV kitchen with fridge w/freezer, microwave and coffee machine, heating with electricity, the cabin has a covered terrace with furniture.
  • 10 30 m2 cabins with bath/toilet – 3 rooms and mezzanine with a total of 6 sleeping places – 2 single beds, 1 double bed and 2 single beds in mezzanine, kitchen/living room with dining area, sitting area, TV, kitchen with glass ceramic stove, oven, fridge etc. /freezer, coffee machine and electric kettle, heating with electricity, the cabin has a covered terrace with furniture.

BUILDINGS: 

  • BUILDING NO. 1
    The building, which was built in 1970 with alterations and additions in 1989, 1994 and 2002, is 765 m2 according to BBR. It is built in lightweight concrete with a roofing of fiber cement including asbestos.
    It contains:
    service department with 13 toilets, 7 bathrooms, 3 family rooms and spa bath, living room with TV, reception/office with 4 computer workstations – (booking program – the space uses Compusoft)
    shop furnished with relevant furniture such as counters, shelves, fridge-freezers, ovens mrk. Ynox and coffee machine mrk. Jurisprudence.
    5 rental rooms furnished on the 1st floor. There is a shared kitchen, 2 toilets and 2 bathrooms
    The private residence of 211 m2  consists of 6 rooms,  1 kitchen and 2 bathrooms.
    Heat source air to water heat pump and electricity.
  • BUILDING NO. 2 AND BUILDING 4
    Building 2 was built in 1976 with alterations and additions in 2006. It is 216 m2 and has a covered area of ​​299 m2 according to BBR. It is built of brick with a roofing of fiber cement including asbestos.
    Building 4, built in 1989, is 251 m2 according to BBR. It is built of brick with a roofing of fiber cement including asbestos. Buildings 2 and 4 together make up service department 2.
    Service department with traditional ladies/gents departments with 22 toilets, 8 bathrooms, 4 family rooms, children’s department, disabled bathroom, dog bath, large kitchen with seating, covered outdoor kitchen with barbecue area and seating.
    Heat source oil boiler.
  • BUILDING NO. 3
    The building, which was built in 1987 with a conversion/extension in 1991, is 171 m2, of which a covered area of ​​29 m2 according to BBR. It is built in wood and roofed with roofing felt with a slope.
    Swimming pool service building contains swimming pool technical room, changing rooms for pool guests, family spa and a fitness department.
    Heat source 2 air to water heat pumps.
  • BUILDING NO. 5
    The building, built in 1997, is 410 m2. according to BBR. Walls are made of metal. Fiber cement roofing, including asbestos. It is used as a machine hall and workshop. There is no heating installation in the building.
  • BUILDING NO. 6
    The building is used as a creative workshop. – info BBR is missing.
